Everyone loves a good story and the two of us have relished being story tellers over the last few months. We have interviewed so many wonderful traders with a passion for design and the “time worn” and it has been a privilege to listen to their tales.
We have also been writing about some of the best places to buy vintage and antique pieces as well as histories of some iconic designers, with the odd update about our own journey thrown in along the way. To say that we have been surprised is an understatement – we are delighted that so many of you keep on returning to the website to read about our passion.
Our initial hunch seems to be right, there is a whole army of you out there who are rolling in a similar way to us – each trying to create their own unique decorative autobiography. Our living spaces are our sanctuary, our escape from frenetic lives, a whimsical haven for family and social gatherings.
So we wanted to make the job of mixing furniture, objects and art a little easier hence, a new chapter begins with the launch of the Layer marketplace. This is a curated collection from traders we know and love, where you can browse and buy beautiful and unique pieces all with stories of their own.
We are enormously proud of the traders who have agreed to partner with us, and whilst this is a select number to begin with, we are hoping to collaborate with more as the future unfolds. We will be doing our utmost to ensure that the Layer buying experience is as personal and intimate as the actual piece itself will ultimately be. We advocate keeping things simple so we will be keeping hold of the reigns and taking care of delivery arrangements, something that we know from our own experiences can be a trial in itself.
Thank you to all of you who champion Layer and in turn have given us the nod to take things to the next level. We hope to continue with our passion for writing and we are very much looking forward to meeting you mooching around in the marketplace.
